 The stage is packaged using a piece of cardboard with plastic wrap attached to one side.  If the packaging has been previously used, start by spreading this cardboard flat with the plastic wrap facing up.  It can be convenient to place a small box centered below the cardboard to facilitate bending the sides down later.
