The following technical notes shows how to replace the +5Volts and -5Volts power supplies used in TG-8 and TG-16 controllers.

The power supply is mounted on the back panel of the controllers where the AC socket is located.

To Access the power supply, unscrew the 6 schroff case screws shown in the pictures below.

Once the screws are removed you will be able to pull out the back panel to gain access to the power supply. Take care not to pull it out too much, as it may result in other connectors getting unplugged.

Next unplug the white power supply connector. The next step is to remove the power supply board from the case. There are two methods. The easiest is to remove the two screws (location shown in pictures below) to remove the power supply from the back panel. However, in some systems the screws may be glued in place. If the screws don't easily release, unscrew the 4/40 nuts on the front side of the power supply board taking care not to loose the washers.

Now put the replacement power supply in place on the old power supply. Remount it on the back panel with two screws, or if you removed the nuts instead then replace them. Push the white connector back in. Push the back panel into place and screw the 6 schroff case screws back in.

Power it up and see if it worked.
